You may be wondering why these tiny little stones come with such a big price tag. If you think about the process used to harvest such stones, the answer is simple. It costs lots of money to pay the people who operate the mines where precious gemstones are excavated. It involves heavy machinery and lots of man hours. Such labor is not cheap. It is also very dangerous work that most people would not typically choose to participate in.
