Have you ever wondered why there are engagement rings in a pawn shop? I wonder this rather frequently. I also wonder what kind of man would give his lady a used ring! Although this is the only option for some people, let us just hope that he does not tell her where the ring came from. If a diamond ring is in a pawn shop, it probably does not have the most romantic story to go along with it. I try to remain optimistic and just imagine a loving couple needing money and having to pawn their diamond, but all I think of is thieves trying to cash in on someone's misfortune.
What should you do if you stumble across a diamond ring? I think I would post an advertisement on a free site like Craigslist and give it a few days for potential owners to contact you. If no one responds to the ad, then I would then post fliers around the area it was lost. Hopefully someone will come forward and be the true owner. I can only imagine how many people in the world would go to great lengths in order to claim a lost diamond as theirs when it is not. I would surely make the person describe the ring in detail, and may even take it to a local jeweler to see how big it is for identifying purposes. This would be a horrible experience to go through for both parties involved. Keep your rings safe!
